name. Krankheit ~ The Blackhearted Jackal age. Thirteen gender. Male element. Earth color. A wolf who is a tone of black so dark that many fail to discern this wraith-like outline before it strikes. The majority are only capable of spotting the twin beacons that radiate with an unusual, ethereal light of their very own while amongst the shade. The wolf's optics are colorless - a pigment defect at birth that bleached the former amber shine to an eerie ash color, they are often the focal point of ones attention and they are as expressive as his facial features are due to his acting prowess.
Krankheit is by no means a wolf of substantial size whereas many of his gender have managed to become hulking giants traipsing along with burly figures and a dominating air enforced with brawn. To wolves like that he snickers and pulls the threads like a puppeteer, watching them dance and writhe for size is not everything. Krankheit was the runt of his litter and because of this vertical disadvantage he began to use other methods to ensure that he accomplished tasks most would not believe he could complete. In comparison to the average male he is five inches shorter; most would not give this a second thought but it is a factor that Krankheit is never able to let go.
His pelt is thin and coarse, insulated for cold climates yet short enough to not cause discomfort during the hotter seasons. The fur along his lips has faded from black to white with sporadic strands of gray etched along them, the same can be found for his forepaws which sport, only along the digits, the same coloration.
A long pointed muzzle is marred by a scar given to him by his birth parent in a fit of rage. The now healed laceration is devoid of fur and is a reminder that wolves are hardly worth calling sentient beings. The scar stretches from between his ears and curves in a cruel slash down the bridge of his nose and strokes down the right side of his cheek where it ends somewhere beneath his jaw. It also gets a lot of attention. Another scar, even more uglier and brutal the the first, rests on his right shoulder where a patch of his pelt was singed away leaving the seared, melted skin exposed for everyone's enjoyment. paw pads. Rough and cracked, stained a grungy brown/red eye color. Gray nearly white. starting elemental power. Vague clairvoyance *personality. f there is one thing Krankheit does better than sneak around its stealing information, and above that hunting. Although he will negligently brush off praise for this talent he inwardly preens in the acknowledgement. The same extends to anything he finds personally fulfilling that is complimented, if brought to his attention he will distribute an air of nonchalance and uncaring for whatever it is while relishing it in secret. There are often times when what he feels doesn't translate to what he shows, what he desires not always mutating into what he does. It is one of the few known consistencies in his attitude which always seems to be shifting in accordance to his current dilemma's.
As a spy for those he deems worthy he wears many masks, adorning whatever the situation calls for or what he perceives is needed. Emotions are fleeting and fickle, weighing on his heart only when he feels a distinct connection with another individual - something he makes impossible. Despite seeming to always be in a throng of others, Krankheit shows no interest in truly benefiting from these established relationships and although he may exude a casual merriment he's always guarding his heart from everyone. He's grown accustomed to being solitary and worse yet has become used to expecting the worst from humans. Between being disowned and forsaken by his father to an incident that occurred in his youth, the male has given up all hope for canine salvation and would rather lead both ends to ultimate destruction. He regards even himself as a potential hazard to those around him yet that self-loathing doesn't prevent him from doing what he believes is his duty.
With such a hatred for wolves he's fashioned himself into a weapon, hides that lethal air in a cloak of friendliness and strikes out after he's drained his targets of any useful information that he then relays his discoveries to the enemy. Krankheit is not above killing and has long since lost the distinction between males, females and adolescents for each are just as deadly as the other in their own right. He underestimates nothing while on the prowl for tidbits, secrets and treasures to give back in the hope that they will destroy each other.
He was given the endearing title of "Jackal" -albeit he looks nothing like one the name is for his ability to instigate and persuade. In a sense he is seen as a predator of moderate size, cunning and ruthless he does his deeds for fun and occasionally without motive. More alike the fox than the Jackal perhaps, Krankheit never gives his loyalty completely. He will lie and cheat his way into the hearts of those around him, twist them and bend them while stealing from them everything before he disappears. He only joins an established group thinking that they would be the winners in the war, if he even suspects that they might lose he'd dash away to whoever was stronger. Despite how much he hates to be betrayed he will sabotage others and is a natural turncoat. Trusting no one has kept him alive. One could say he's hyper attracted to strength because he can't fight worth shit. Instigating strife and discord between two factions appears to be his specialty. He conveys a sense of arrogance with his nonchalance, always seeming to look down on others with a grin spreading over his features. Sanguine and auspicious one never really knows what this being is thinking but its safest to assume it is something that will leave someone in severe pain, if not dead.
Although he admonishes wolves for their treachery, even when he himself is no better. *history. Iven before being forced to serve out his days as a vagrant, Krankheit had not had a pleasant life. Journeying from the Northern hemisphere where the climate hardly exceeded a comfortable 70 degrees, Krankheit had been born the runt of a litter of three. Against the odds stacked against him his resilience proved rewarding as he met the benchmark of his short life that would sign a new lease on his existence as his immune system strengthened and left him as healthy as his two siblings Rosk and Freight. But that did not mean that he was recognized as anything more than a liability.
Albeit it wasn't unusual for the runt to have survived this long it was still not acceptable that the black male may not be proficient in anything but baby sitting. His lack of significant muscle mass and heart stature made him less likely to succeed in the pack hierarchy. But Krankheit felt duty bound and opposed the pessimistic overview of his worth with pride and amazing diligence. Most of all he had something to prove; that not only was he capable of accomplishing his goals but that he was useful even if he wasn't as large as his brother Freight. Not that this increased his value much in the eyes of their Alpha father who barely recognized Krankheit as a legitimate member of his family, let alone an heir to his pack.
In spite of this, Krankheit furiously completed his duties while his larger sibling dawdled and basked in the rays of attention. The male went out of his way to prove how much more they appreciated him than Krankheit and this constantly chaffed the young wolf who wanted nothing more than for his father to see him as more than a hindrance to him. He excelled in his given jobs, thought fighting was still not his strong suite he wasn't handicapped in any way, shape or form that would label him a hazard.
Krankheit made leaps and bounds while Freight grew fat and fussy from the abundance of attention that he was given unconditionally. It soon became a problem because when it was time to assign the juveniles their ranks it became apparent who was the more responsible of the two and it forced everyone to take on a new perspective of the smaller Krankheit in comparison to Freight who resented the shift of power. Although their father may not have wanted to, he had little choice but to acknowledge that his genes were strong in Krankheit who'd finally proven himself after investigating perculiar animal carcass abandoned in their forest. He'd revealed to his pack that these discarded prey were not to be eaten because their human antagonists had laced the meat with poison. Needless to say they were grateful for the information that spared their lives.
In the passing years he could only grow stronger, his mother and sister his biggest supporters, were always boasting of him while Freight seethed with rage for his own folly. At this rate he'd lose not only the attention he'd grown accustomed to, but his place as heir and he would not permit such an event. If there was one thing the brothers shared it was the ability to manipulate those around him.
His bitterness reaching the point of no return, Freight began to harass their human natures into laying down steel traps within their territory and began noting their locations in preparation for a dastardly scheme. It was in the middle of fall that Freight called to their sister Tuul. The young, virulent male informed his sibling that Krankheit had mentioned wanting to speak with her in private and Tuul, having no reason to suspect her brother, left to the location where she'd been instructed to go.
While she made her way to the destination, Freight quickly worked on stirring the humans by killing on of their pasture animals and sending their dogs into a frenzy with his presence. As he'd anticipated they unleashed their tracking hounds and set to chasing him up the mountain where Tuul had unfortunately gotten her leg caught in a trap as he had hoped. Freight led them right to her and sped on toward the pack, leaving her at their mercy.
Upon arrival he'd howled for Krankheit who'd been reluctant to answer his brothers urgent bays until he relayed that he and Tuul had been out patrolling when they'd been spotted and chased by the humans dogs. Weaving the tale as an accident he told Krankheit to find and protect Tuul from the hunters while he rallied the pack to join them. Afraid for his sister, Krankheit bolted and reached his destination in time to see his sister dead with a bullet wound in her head that had ended her life.
Enraged he attacked the animals in the vicinity and slew two of the humans dogs before giving chase to them. He came back to his siblings corpse as the pack appeared under the pretense that it was 'Krankheit' who'd instigated it all. Freight had lied once again and told everyone that he'd overheard Krankheit telling Tuul he was going to overthrow their father and seize power. When Tuul had objected he'd chased her down the mountain and into the trap and then left her to the dogs who'd called upon their human Alphas who killed her. And they believed it.
Outraged by their blindness to reason Krankheit's mother pleaded for his life while her son shook with bridled fury. He'd likely be killed because he couldn't prove it and despite his standing in the pack his word still lacked the merit of Freight's who grinned smugly from behind their ranks. Unable to help himself Krankheit lunged for his sibling who met his attack and the two brawls until trails of smoke began choking their atmosphere.
Man had set fire to their forest to flush them out, no longer willing to tolerate their presence among them. In the confusion somehow the battered Krankheit was able to kill off his brother but in only to have their father find him through the fleeing pack. The Alpha lunged for him, he'd already disowned the male and intended to kill him before the fires ate them all. Krankheit had no way to fend off the attack and was beaten quite easily. However the season had been without rain for months leaving everything as perfect tinder for the blaze ravishing their territory. Unable to withstand the heat and without the time to kill, his father scarred him and fled.
It was a miracle to survive the beating, a blessing or maybe fate that he escaped the inferno but not before the flames caught up to him and seared his right shoulder. Jaded, betrayed and bitter like never before, Krankheit moved as far away from where his pack had likely gone.
From then on he became known as "The Blackhearted Jackal" *image. A Glimpse; It's all you'll get
